Formed out of lovely connections on the SW/ Cardiff scene- Alex put together this trio with fantastic RWCMD graduate drummer Alex Goodyear and wonderful Cardiff-based double bassist and composer Ashley John Long. Teaching together at Cardiff university; Alex M and Ashley would frequently discuss their favourite contemporary music; Messiaen, Jolivet, Takemitsu and others.

This kinship, with Alex G added to the fold, has grown into very fruitful jazz, and improvised explorations of music they have started writing for the trio. Extended harmony and microtonality are particular areas the trio have been exploring to date; and I hope to share some music from the trio at some stage soon.
