A very satisfying international collaboration that was setup in 2022 to create an album to celebrate 30 years of the Fresh Sound New Talent label- the Fresh Sound Ensemble features an array of upcoming talent from the UK, as well as Europe. It sees Alex teaming up with other leaders who have recently released on the label such as Sam Braysher, Alex Hitchcock, Tom Ollendorf, Ronan Perrett, Steve Fishwick and Finnish tenor saxophonist Adele Sauros also.

The debut album, ‘Common Threads’, that features all original music by the members of the collective written specifically for this project, was launched to critical acclaim at the Jamboree Club in Barcelona in May 2023.

This project celebrates unity and parallel exploration and inspiration in the current UK and European jazz scene and will hope to feature more live performances over the coming years.
